Story of a Flash Gamer

I’m impressed by the modern video games, there’s no doubt about that. The graphics and endless gaming possibilities in, say, Grand Theft Auto really blow my mind and the things you can do in Pro Evolution Soccer is ludicrously close to real football.

However, sometimes the designers and developers seem to miss out on the beauty of simplicity. Old-timers like me, who grew up with 8-bit Nintendo and Commodore 64 games, are often not that impressed when the first impression has faded and we examine the games under the beautiful graphics.

What makes a good game?

I think the best games are simply the ones based on the best ideas and not the package. Today, many games are first and foremost a package. Back in the days, when a programmer had to work with limited computer memory, the games were simpler, more straightforward and often better.

You could play simple games for weeks without getting tired of it.

Luckily there are games with these qualities available today – online flash games. These games are often easy to understand and are truly addictive. Just as I remember the games back in the days.

Today I play a wide range of flash games to fulfill my gaming needs (and to beat other people in my office). It can be anything from Robot Jam to free slot machine games.
